“Art is the exploration of light and colour that transforms into reality and shows the beauty of our surroundings.” Gordon Hincks

Gordon Hincks, was instrumental in founding our Artists' Circle group, along with former members Keith Baker and Ken Overbury. A native of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Gordon had made art his profession. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a diploma in Art Education from Concordia University (1977), Gordon had taught ever since in all media, specializing in drawing and perspective, and enjoyed sharing his experiences with others.

Gordon strongly believed that our group should never judge the quality of artwork, but rather he wanted the Artists’ Circle to be fun, inspiring and open to all. He understood that art is an intensely personal act and that its expression should not be judged through a filter of subjective taste. Successive Artists Circle presidents have continued to preserve this legacy.
