Louise Gingras

Originally from Repentigny, in the eastern suburbs of Montreal, I have been painting for over 25 years. What was a hobby quickly became a passion. I had the opportunity to learn with recognized professional artists and it was in 2018 that, newly retired and having always dreamed of studying the arts, I undertook to do a certificate in visual and media arts at the UQAM for which I successfully graduated in 2021.

I like to paint with oil, acrylic and for the last 3 years, dry pastel. Although my subjects have always been varied, it is with pastel that I approached portraiture. This meticulous and precise work suits me perfectly and allows me to achieve a level of realism that I particularly appreciate.

Whether in a landscape, in a bouquet of flowers or for a portrait, bold and bright colors are an integral part of my palette.

For me, painting is the ultimate means of interpreting and creating for the pleasure of the eyes, the heart and the soul.
