I’m inspired by nature, from the beauty of our vast landscapes to the details of the flora and fauna that surround us.
Struck in 2016 with a rare autoimmune and neuroinflammatory disease, I started using my nature photography to raise awareness of chronic pain. By 2018 this disease had caused a Mild Cognitive Impairment, forcing me to abandon my healthcare career; I became a volunteer Patient Partner in chronic pain projects and research. In 2021 I decided to learn to paint, as neuroplasticity (brain-plasticity) training for my chronic pain and cognitive issues.
The luminosity of watercolours has fascinated me since childhood, and I try to create impressionistic yet identifiable paintings. My #ArtDespitePain initiative is intertwined with my art practice, encouraging others with persistent pain to try creative pursuits.
My watercolours have already won awards (national CPS Art Awards, 2021; City of Montréal 1st prize, 2022; WASM Honourable Mention, 2024), while one of my nature photos received an Honourable Mention in a national competition (Bateman Foundation; 2021).
You might see me painting off the back of my bicycle in warm weather, in nature parks and along the waterfronts of Montréal’s West Island.
